A Teacher is Like a Tour Guide

A teacher is like a tour guide.  Like a tour guide, a teacher leads the way to new adventures and learning opportunities.  They open the doors for the student so that they can explore.  Teachers guide students in the right direction, are there to answer questions, and support the students in their learning adventure.  If the teacher or tour guide are successful in their job, then when the student finishes their course (tour), their interest will be peaked, and they will have a desire to learn more.

If I can inspire at least one student to seek knowledge and become a life-long learner, then I have met my goal as a teacher.

I share the same idea of teaching with a slightly different take on it (perhaps we mean the same in the end). I believe we take the students on a planned journey/route/itinerary that we will cover the parts we think are important and interesting while hoping at the end the experience was enjoyable, they learned something new, and it provides the information they can share with others.
