I watched a TED TALK regarding enhancing digital Communication by using Psychology.  I did not find the TED TALK intself to be particularly useful, however the notes taking process I really enjoyed. I’ve always taken notes of my own accord in a somewhat simlar fashion – without the fully formalized procedure and like the additons.  The additions that were new to me  were the layout of the space for making the connections with main ideas on one side and details, thoughts etc. on the other.  I’ve never used the colour code aspect in my own note taking and I can certainly see where that would add to the process as a reminder to make the connections.  I also really liked the summary space at the bottom. I can see where as a student, taking the notes, organizing and then summarizing would not only serve the purpose of making tidier more legible notes ( one of my ” read later” challenges!) ,and reinforcing the concepts and information ( looking at it at least 3 times or in 3 different ways), but most important, I can see how helpful this would be for reviewing at a later date . If looking for information about a particular subject, the reader can page through the summaries, or if the detail is needed the colour coding and organization would be helpful for jogging memory of the lecture.  After watching the video on the notes, I did send the link on to my children and a few others as an example of a method that is simple, effective and could be used in a variety of ways throughout one’s life !
