I chose Michelle Pacansky-Brock‘s keynote, “The Anatomy of Learning: Cultivating Care from the Very First Click to take notes on.

Here are a few of my observations from completing this activity…

  • The quality of my handwriting went tragically downhill in university and has yet to return.
  • I write in capital letters because that is sadly my neatest variation.
  • I definitely can’t take notes in anything other than blue ink – any other colour looks messier to me.
  • I still think I probably write more notes than I should – although these pages are shorter than average and I write on the larger side.
  • It did take me longer than the actual length of the video because I paused it a few times, but I actually LOVED that! I wish I had the option of asynchronous lectures when I was in university because it really took off the stress of having to keep up, and it was really nice to be able to easily repeat anything I missed.
  • I did not go back and use different colours to highlight key points because I find underlining, starring, and drawing boxes to be just as effective for me!
  • I surprisingly also loved the dedicated space on the left side for Key Points. I admittedly thought it would annoy me at first, but I found it useful. It was also a great place to jot down specific time codes from the video if I thought I might want to revisit those parts at some point.
  • Check out my notes by clicking on the link to my google doc. Excuse some spelling errors. Leave a comment if you’re able to read my handwriting! 🙂

p.s. – I highly recommend incorporating some daily hand/wrist exercises to prevent any cramps, aches, or pains if you do a lot of writing or typing. 😉
