For my Remote Field Placement: #ChangetheNow I walked the students through Human Centered Design Thinking, where they would identify a current issue and come up with a way to solve their wicked problem. In the Ideate stage they focus on brainstorming and creating ideas and possible solutions to their problem. For this stage, they are to come up with as many ideas as possible, while knowing that every idea is welcomed.

When I started to search for an appropriate image, I originally put in the word “Ideate” but not much came up. I then decided to try the word “brainstorming” and I had much more success. I used the boolean search operator “AND” in order to find my image, by writing “brainstorm and sticky notes.”

I found the best image that suited this concept on Unsplash. The image shows multiple sticky notes with ideas written on them, and I felt that this was an excellent visual to demonstrate the idea of writing down as many ideas on as many sticky notes as possible.

I feel that this photo selection would help support the learners’ understanding of the concept of how to Ideate, because it is demonstrating many ideas that are randomly put up on a wall with other brainstormed ideas. It is way to show the students that any answer is welcomed, and that they don’t need to be neat and tidy, but instead the purpose is to get as many ideas out there as possible.
