I have been trying to find ways to increase engagement for both the synchronized and asynchronized student.  I chose to use Quizlet as it will be of value to both groups.  It is interactive, which makes learning more enjoyable for the independent learner and can also be used for collaborative learners in a virtual class session.  In both cases it can be used as a formative assessment of the students understanding.

One unit it my course is about conflict resolution.  I will ask the students to read a help guide on conflict resolution written by Jeanne Segal, Lawrence Robinson, and Melinda Smith and then complete the Quizlet matching game based on the content of the help guide.

This will allow students to gage their understanding of the material, and as the quiz can be repeated, it will also be a good study tool.

I have attached a copy of the Quizlet that I created.

I found Quizlet easy to use and should require very little explanation for the students.  Quizlet is just one technology that I plan to implement into my class this semester.  I have noticed that a few others have chosen Flipgrid.  I think this is a tool that I will investigate further as I believe it will help me to meet my goal of increasing engagement for both asynchronized and synchronized students.
