It was interesting to review the various reflections on SoTL from colleagues who posted in the document before me.

Here is what I added in response to others:

To Vasudevan I agree with this. Contexts and students are always different, scholar-practitioners should always question their own assumptions, and we need to keep the conversation about teaching and learning moving forward, so “continuous improvement” is a key feature of SoTL for me as well

To Connie: I like this motivation! It can be easy, over the years, to find what we do as repetitive. This deeper dive can result in new discoveries and renewed energy and excitement about teaching for seasoned educators. Great point!

To Stephanie: Thanks for this comment. I wonder if engagement in SoTL can increase teacher resiliency as well. We have as a coping strategy and improvement opportunity a body of literature to draw from and contribute too. If what we are doing doesn’t work, we can always ask: What Does the Research Say to Do? (WDRSD)
