A response to the Three Keys of SoTL Activity

The three key characteristics of SoTL that resonated with me are:

  1. Inquiry
  2. Practice
  3. Impact

In inquiry, there must be an expertise or passion to transfer to learners the seeking of knowledge. This can begin by a question or opening the curiosity factor. 

In practice, this is where the teacher/faculty, use the best method of teaching and research to respond to the inquiry and engage the learner. 

In impact, this is how do we reflect and share the outcome/practice to the community of practice or community at large.

Here is a quick example:

Inquiry – What lessons were learned from online learning during pandemic vs traditional online learning? 

Practice – Conduct a mixed method research with students being the researcher and participants along with faculty.

Impact – Determine findings and communicate it to all learners and faculty.
