The development of specific body defense mechanisms is a tough concept for students as it is laden with new terminology and detailed processes that often obscure the ‘big picture’ concepts.  The use of the story of a germ named ‘Gerry ‘ who invades the body and is met by two armies of snipers could provide the opportunity for students to establish an overview of the development of immunity.  The use of a quirky tale with everyday relatable terms can encourage engagement and recall.
