I chose Patch Thirty – Engaging Students with Wikipedia because I recommend Wikipedia(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) to my students through specific articles and as a first step in learning about something new. I contribute to Wikipedia annually because I benefit from Wikipedia both professionally and personally.

There were two nuggets for me.  I know we were asked for one – for me, these two go together.

  1. expand to include Wikipedia Education (https://wikiedu.org/) and Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) both as sources for me to enhance my classes and for my students to provide them with lifelong sources of information.
  2. Emphasize more that Wikipedia is a place to start to become familiar with terminology and concepts and the need to consult other sources distilling information as they think about and evaluate what they are reading.
