PLANEWORK Empathy Map
I got this map started myself with a couple additions in each section and then I showed it to my students in the Instructional Design program at Lambton College and asked them if they had anything they’d like to pop in. And they did! In the beginning of the semester all of the students were located in India, but at this point a number of them have made it to Canada. All of them are in some stage of the process of moving to Canada. It’s hard to imagine the stresses of participating in a very busy program and adding the stresses of moving country on top of that! Wow. I’ve had numerous messages from students concerned I would be upset that they missed a class or were late with something because they would be in the air travelling when class was on or they would be extremely jet lagged at class time. I wish they didn’t worry so much whether or not I am upset with them. Spoiler alert: I am most certainly not! Putting these thoughts on the empathy map was very helpful for me to see the bigger picture and is giving me some ideas for what’s next!
