I have taught and intro to project management for business students over the past several years.  Using this activity, I chose to focus on three key concepts of the course, and how content curation using repositories can help.

What is a project?

Although it sounds simple, understanding this definition is key to the course.  I searched the ecampusontario H5P Studio using the search words “project management”.  I found 5 or 6 resources that would help support this concept including a “drag the words” activity that is perfect as it supports the definition of project as defined by the PMI. https://h5pstudio.ecampusontario.ca/content/1951

Scope Definition

Creating a definition or scope for the project that is clear and well written is no small task.  Searching the ecampus ontario open library resulted in an OER text, “Project Management” by Adrienne Watt.  In this text is a great written section and graphic on explaining the importance of defining the project scope so all stakeholder share the same understanding. The graphic is attached.  Somtimes a picture speaks 1,000 words!  The graphic is from Andreas Cappell (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cappellmeister/5921913/) used under CC-BY-NC-SA (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/).

Project Lifecycle – Day in the Life of a Project Manager

One of my objectives for the course is to utilize “action learning” where students actively work on a project to learn and apply concepts.  This can be a challenge with a large class and remote learners.  Using the MIT Management Sloan School repository, I searched for project management and found a simulation with a tag of “action learning”.  This would be a phenomenal way to include a capstone project for the course. https://mitsloan.mit.edu/teaching-resources-library/project-management-simulation
