  1. I chose to respond to the following three activities. I chose them as they represented tools I had used somewhat but I wanted to try out in more depth. I wanted to try a few of the other tools but couldn’t get full access with my school account – for the H5P activity for example.
  1. I learned several things while experimenting with these technologies
    • When creating a graphic I used Microsoft word. I tried look at some of the options provided but they required accounts or had limited access, etc. I figured I could practice using a piece of technology I know quite well. I was able to create a graphic relatively fast. I think this teaches me I can potentially leverage the tools I already know for other purposes with little effort.
    • For the create a quiz activity, I started looking at creating a set of flash cards that students could practice with. Again, trying to use online tools provided in the activity I ran up against pay walls and accounts, etc. I opted to use poll everywhere instead, an app I use sometimes in lectures to help with engagement. I was able to create a flash card style activity that could help students earlier in the course develop their skills.
    • For the survey activity, I have used google forms several times, but I wanted to try the Microsoft forms version to see what it was like. Pretty similar but there were a few features not shared between the platforms that may indicate to use one over the other in certain situations. The survey I made was also just intriguing as I themed it towards how can we use technology in the short and long terms to improve our courses with my colleagues.
  2. I partially made the poll everywhere quiz on my iPhone. I say partially because I had to create the images I wanted on my PC first. Clearly a limitation of mobile devices is that they aren’t as detailed in their ability to create specific custom content. Generic uses would be fine though! It was advantageous to incorporate it in my creation as many students would use a mobile device to respond to the questions. Being able to visualize their experience is important for development. I think these type of practice questions could be beneficial for students to check their knowledge. A good example is students commuting could practice while they travel. Making these devices available to all students is the difficult part. They would have to bring their own in our program. I would endeavour to make these activities usable on a PC or mac as well for equal access in our computer lab.
  3. See attached linked for my video. I actually experimented again with Prezi and screen capture with Camtasia to create this. That’s two more technology experiments! You’re really getting your moneys worth out of me Activity Bank!
