Our students have to role play throughout the program to demonstrate helping skills. To be honest, most students are petrified of the experience. I have seen students go through incredible steps to avoid at all cost including barely passing the course. NO matter what I say to comfort them about their normal anxiety is continues to be a problem. I want to find a way to grow their comfort, minimize their self-consciousness, view feedback as a valuable and essential part of our profession. I am thinking of using Jamboard as a way to brainstorm thoughts and feelings about role playing and then use the tool again to brainstorm ways they can support each other. Another idea might be using Flipgrid to get them use to the camera. I also think that I could make role play demos of myself using the skills!
