Solving Problems with Piktochart

A response to the Information as a Graphic Activity

Using the tool Piktochart, I created an infographic to present the steps involved in solving a problem, from the perspective of a Business Analyst.

I used one of the preconstructed templates as a base, and modified it to suit the data (i.e. adding “blocks”, adjusting the colour scheme). The tool was very easy to use and the bank of templates offered plenty of creative inspiration. There were some limitations in terms of arranging objects (layering) and control of the blocks; several of these limitations are lifted with a paid license.

The task of converting a single PowerPoint slide of information into a “multi-page” or bootstrap style graphic was much more time consuming than I expected. While infographics might seem labour intensive, I can see the benefit of using them to walk through a sequenced series (i.e. timeline, steps in process) or as a reference tool following a lesson.
