Students are like cats
The image I chose for my metaphor is of a person trying to approach a stray cat. I think this reflects the relationship I strive to maintain with my students which focuses on approachability. I want to make my students feel comfortable enough with me that they feel they can approach me for any reason at any time. Deeper down I think this is a combination of several other factors like trust, patience, consistency, and reliability. The student needs to know that I will be open to them approaching before the do. If I ever betray this contract… it will be difficulty to rebuild.
