A difficult concept for our students to learn is the functioning unit of the kidney, the nephron,  how it works, and the many roles it plays in homeostasis. I decided to break it down into two main components, the blood supply and the tubules. Each was provided a different colour for ease of identification. To discuss the concept of elements entering and leaving the tubules an analogy of a bus route was provided with people entering and leaving the bus dependent on what the community (our body) needed. The image provided here is not the one I made it is an example of one that could be used to demonstrate the concept using colours.
