I want to break down and make easier for undergraduate students to understand the concept of doing a literature review for the purpose of shaping a research question.   It’s a challenge for many undergraduate students to work on academic research papers when they have never conducted  ]academic research. In many respects, up to their high school years, students are asked to learn something and being tested for what they have learned.  The same mode of learning substantially continues even during their undergraduate years. In order to do academic research, they have to develop their own questions to investigate and develop their arguments by using what experts are written about the topic. It’s difficult to find a good metaphor for doing academic research.  I dare try.If studying for an exam is learning to be a student, working on a research project is learning to be an expert or researcher.
