Boolean Operators are Misunderstood
One of the most misunderstood concepts in my discipline is the effective use of Boolean Operators in databases and search engines. An analogy that could work is ordering off a menu: For breakfast I would like French toast AND bacon OR sausage NOT scrambled eggs, for example. Using a Venn diagram in tandem with menu concept I think could also help reinforce this concept.
I really like this Venn diagram that uses peanut butter and jelly, created by the Bailey Library at Slippery Rock University, and plan on modifying it for use in my own classes.
