As a new instructor, I’ve observed a common misconception among students regarding the importance of arriving prepared for lab classes. Some students believe they can rely solely on past experiences. An analogy I could use involves comparing the situation to a sports team. Think of lab class as a game. Being ready for lab is like showing up to a match with all your equipment and readiness. Lab time is our game time, and to make the most of it, students must arrive prepared to start immediately. Just as athletes need practice to improve, being prepared ensures we can focus on nursing skill practice and learning from one another. Our primary objective is to excel, similar to winning a game, and in labs, this starts with being prepared so we can concentrate on skill practice and collaborative learning.
