Asking Interesting Questions about Learning and Teaching– As a professor I am always curious. Curious about my students’ learning and curious about how to improve my teaching practice. I think it is vital for a teacher to ask good questions of colleagues and of students and of ones self to ensure you are always growing, learning and improving.

Reflecting on the learning happening in my classroom- Self reflection is important for any professional. I believe in reflecting on your teaching practice, on how your students are learning and progressing and if things could be better. I often take time through surveys to find out feedback from students and co-faculty. I use this information to reflect and think on ways to make materials better or if I can try something different to engage my students and improve outcomes.

Testing out what works and what doesn’t in the classroom- I absolutely love doing experiments with different teaching strategies! I especially enjoy trying ways to make my content more enjoyable and relevant to my students for when they are out there in the real world with their own businesses or in an office. I want them to want to come to class, so to me I will use my classroom as the ultimate laboratory and try new things. Some things works and others don’t. Over the last two years being online has been so important to find new ways to improve my student learning and build upon my teaching practice.
