WIIFM – Wound Care Course for Nurses

This activity is very easy for the course that I am teaching because everyone is voluntarily in my course. They are looking to advance their specialized knowledge of wound care. So they are all generally very motivated to be there already.

Some of the WIIFM things for my students:

  • Gain knowledge about wound care
  • Gain confidence in clinical decision making around wound care
  • Learn very practical skills to apply to clinical practice
  • Be able to help their clients/patients
  • Satisfaction of learning something new
  • Identify further learning gaps and needs as a nurse (this is an introductory course – sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know and this is a first step on that journey to identify what nurses don’t know about wound care since it’s a very extensive topic, and not taught in general nursing education)
  • Interesting subject matter
  • Gaining knowledg in order to help other nurses provide optimal care
