Solving a statistical problem is like driving a car where you need to go through a set of steps to get to your desination:

  1. identify the data type (quantitative, qualitative)
  2. then you need to identify how many populations you have (one or more)
  3. now lets see what is our descriptive measure  (mean, variance, proportion)
  4. how many tails do we have (one or two)
  5. its time to form our hypothesisHypothesis: Ho and H1
  6. finally lets identify our test statistic: (z, t,     etc.)
