It’s a puzzle…
I chose this image as I see my role as the teacher to facilitate student learning by designing optimal learning experiences. In doing this, I help enable and empower students in their learning of the course content and help them take responsibility for their learning. For this approach to be successful engagement is key. This image illustrates the engagement of many ‘hands’ in the process. I believe in active and collaborative learning strategies that provides frequent opportunities for practice and feedback. Each puzzle piece represents the learning opportunities. Sometimes the pieces almost fit but students are required to rearrange (reconsider the information) their thinking, working together to look at the big picture. This extends beyond the classroom to the field when working in healthcare. We are always trying to solve the puzzle.
