Currency: The timeliness of the information:

When was the resource published or posted?
Has the resource been revised or updated?
Does your topic require current information?
Are the links functional?
The resource has been updated over time to include more virtual videos. The topic is current with the content I teach in my course and ties in theory and lab skills. The links are functional.

Relevance: The importance of the information for your needs

Does the resource relate to your needs?
Who is the intended audience?
Is the information in the resource at an appropriate level for your learners?
The resource is what I am looking for to help students prep for onsite lab sessions where they virtually practice a skill before they are onsite to practice/perform the skill. The intended audience would be med lab science students and is targeted to professionals.

Authority: The source of the information

Who is the creator?
What are their credentials or organizational affiliations?
Are they qualified to write on this topic?
Labster is the creator and company that developed these videos. Industry leader in virtual labs and science courseware.

Accuracy: The reliability and truthfulness of the information

Is the information supported by evidence?
Has the resource been reviewed or refereed?
Are there spelling, grammar, or typographical errors?
The videos have outlined objectives that are clear in the scenario.

Why does this resource exist? (to inform, teach, sell, entertain, or persuade?)
Is the information fact, opinion, or propaganda?
Are there political, ideological, cultural, religious, institutional, or personal biases?
To teach, sell to high school, university students.
Information is accurate.

Notes: Are there additional questions or observations you have about this material that affect your decision to use it? (i.e. this is an opinion piece that I will use to demonstrate one side of an argument).

My only concern is pricing of this content. Only a small component is free.

Final Recommendation: Will you use this resource? Why or why not?

I will have to reach out to my institution to see if I can use it as there may be a pricing component. However, we are still in a hybrid environment with a large class size so it might be worth it. It is more applicable to use as either a course preparation task, online hybrid lab sessions or even as a review before a practical assessment.
