One of the most common concerns I hear from students when taking my class is around online group work. They often seek to complete group work on their own because they believe it is too difficult to facilitate in the online environment. I believe this is especially important now as we are all moving online.

I focused mostly on the movement from in-class learning to remote learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In some ways, it was like starting over, but with a whole bunch of new tools.
This empathy map outlines the transition of my students from face-to-face learning to strictly remote learning. Since I do not interact with students directly I have chosen to complete the Empathy Map to address challenges of teaching and professional development that faculty encounter.
This activity gave me the chance to remember what it is like to be in a situation where I am not familiar with the material or environment and there is a pressure to be successful. It is through those lenses that I choose the create my empathy map. This would be particular difficult for my more… »
