My Tech Tools students learn Camtasia as the last piece of software they encounter in the course, and this is by design. Video editing, whether in Camtasia or in other programs requires a set of steps to get from ideas to the final product in a planned and consistent way. I have them think about the raw materials, in this case, the actual recording environment of the videos, and then work up to the process of drafting storyboards and doing the actual edits.

Components:

  1. Developing a storyboard to plan out what needs to be recorded
  2. Lighting and Audio Composition for good videos
  3. Graphic Balance in the Visual Frame
  4. Importing the video and cleaning it up (white balance, audio, etc)
  5. Making needed edits and adding media as required
  6. Publishing and hosting video for viewing
