SoTL – Motivation to Engage
Please see the attached file “Value of SoTL – MonaBC” for the factors that motivate me to engage in SoTL.
As I read through the 3 SoTL Keys & Motivation Google Doc, I realized that others have similar motivations for engaging in SoTL. I add this comment to a colleague’s post — it could have been added to many others as well:
“My motivations are very similar to yours. In my experience there isn’t always a correlation between assessment scores and learning –> I’ve worked with many people who get great marks but are unable to use their knowledge. This is why I look for ways to increase active learning in my classes — to give an opportunity to practice using knowledge being learned — in the hope that this will help both with assessment and employability success.”
