Remember when I first started my Ontario Extend journey? My Teacher for Learning homepage uses this image. As I mentioned a respected college and good friend had sent me the above image stating, “basic issue in education”. It seemed like the perfect image to represent the concept of prior knowledge, the tangled web of culture, the stress of syllabus mapping. And how it is equally okay for teachers and learners to explore and learn. There is a time to go out into the vast environment around us to find nuggets and returning to the focus room to maintain our vector. If the world is the chaotic beautiful mess around, I am welcome at the door to the focus room. I never want school to get in the way of my students learning and creating-of remaining curious.
