When navigating through Supply Chain Management we come across hurdles within the components. It takes complete visibility and understand of the cause and affect of each component/ department/section

  1. Demand/ Forecasting: the magic crystal ball (ha ha) of knowing how much a business is going to sell. Normally based on historical data (but not always)
  2. Procurement: the folks that do the buying. What gets purchased/when/with who is all dependent on the demand mentioned in #1. The movement of these goods are coordinated with #4 (Logistics) and this can be a one time or multiple time movement (raw materials from supplier, finished goods from production moved)
  3. Materials Management:- these are the folks that manage inventory. They see where materials (finished and non finished)
  4. Logistics- the movement of raw materials, work in progress (WIP), finished stock throughout the supply chain

The hurdle is that a person needs to have the fundamental understanding of how this “engine” works. Before they can jump in they need to learn how to swim (ha ha). There is a serious cause and effect in this cycle
