I have come into teaching later in my career.  I love working with people, and teaching has now become an extension of that passion.  I also like to share with learners that your career is a journey, with new roads to explore.  The growth mindset that Linda Ockwell refers to (taken from https://connectingteachingandlearning.wordpress.com/2015/01/25/teaching-is-my-passion/) is a key part of my teaching philosophy.  Being passionately open to new opportunities, ideas, information, and points of view would be my teaching metaphor.
