3 keys of SOTL
The 3 keys for me were:
1. That the syllabus is a hypothesis. I feel that this is also how the students view the syllabus. Closing the Loop- rexamining the hypothesis in terms of student outcomes – is the stage of the process that needs to happen each term.
2. Bringing your research to your teaching in a systemic way- How do we quantify learning? Successful outcomes may look very different.
3. You have to think much more carefully about what I think student learning looks like
because you have to define it. Defining it is what happens when the above challenge has been met. The instructor has learned what a successful student brings to the table.
