3 Keys to SOTL

This seemed natural to me.  I’ve spent my career always checking the results of what I’ve done and seeing if there was a way to improve.  I like how this has been described and is very similar to the Plan/Do/Check/Act process, where it is very important to focus on checking the results and adjusting.

 

The 3 keys of SOTL  

 

  1. Treat teaching scientifically, using experimental modes systematically.
  2. Examine results to close the loop.
  3. Focus on whether the students are learning and improve your skills.

 

This is very similar to the plan/do/check/act process.  The check and act are incredibly important, and reflecting on your teaching is very important.  Is the effort having the desired outcome
