At the beginning of Tutor Training, I ask my student-tutors to tell us about something they are fabulously good at that is not school related. Then, when everyone is done, I ask my student-tutors to think about:

Were you born fabulously good at this?

If not, how did you get fabulously good? Who or what helped you?

Have you ever failed at this? Why didn’t you give up?

This helps us discuss what it means to support students through tutoring as they become fabulously independent learners.
