Challenge 1 : Create a welcoming accessibility statement
I decided to do the first challenge, which is creating a welcoming accessibility statement.
Here is the accessibility statement:
Welcome to [course name]. I am committed to create an environment where all students feel valued and supported. If you encounter any difficulties during your learning or participation, please do not hesitate to contact me at [email address]. I will address your needs and accommodate your learning styles. I’m dedicated to providing fair options for assignments and exams, such as creative projects and alternative formats. Since it requires planning, let’s connect early to plan possible alternative formats. Your feedback on the course design is important to me. Together, we can collaboratively shape a course that is accessible and inclusive for all.

I am teaching Mathematics at the Conestoga College. Accommodated students were assessed by an advisor at the Accessibility Office to determine their needs. Then, the Office will send me an document that states what types of support are required.
