Consider this…HyFlex Images
For this activity, I decided to search for an image that I could use in a faculty development program. The overall goal of the program is for faculty to develop the skills to build, and deliver, a HyFlex course. I wanted an image that could introduce HyFlex in a more human way. There are plenty of diagrams available to show the participation/teaching modes (face to face, online synchronous, online asynchronous) that make up HyFlex delivery, but I wanted something with an actual person at the center.
I’ve used Unsplash a lot, so this was a great opportunity to try out some other websites. I searched:
- Pixabay
- CC Search
- Flickr
- Pexels
The search terms I used were:
- HyFlex OR Hy Flex OR flex learning (this returned no relevant search results, which honestly I’m not surprised by)
- “online learning” OR “online meeting”
- “classroom technology” OR “education technology”
- “online connected classroom”
On thing I like about Pixabay is that it suggests additional search terms to find related images.
I found an image Flickr, but then realized I hadn’t filtered for Creative Commons licensed images. The image was not quite what I was after anyway, since it looked more like a video conferencing scenario.
I settled on this image by Julia M Cameron on Pexels to share for this activity. I think it sort of conveys that the teacher is in the classroom with face to face students, while there are students joining in online as well. I don’t love it though so I will probably end up using a diagram, haha!
