I chose Patch 36 – Creating Meaningful Faculty Development by Mariam Ahmed. The piece that resonated with me was her first point: Ask faculty which topics they want to learn more about – Instructors will be more invested in learning about topics that matter to them. At the end of each of our workshops, we ask for participant suggestions on future workshop topics.”

This passage resonated with me because as an Instructional Designer I often have a process or set of steps to work through when helping faculty design courses. It’s easy to get caught up in the process and neglect the faculty’s desire to learn more about a specific topic. Taking time to insert this advice into my routine will be a great step to help make a meaningful experience for both the faculty and myself.
