My challenge with online teaching has always been that it’s so unpersonal. Everyone is behind a screen and you don’t really get to see/know anyone. So I created a video of myself as an introduction instead of just typing it out (I also send a personalized email to students and share actual photos of myself, too!). I hope this will model to students what to do and increase the perceived psychological warmth/rapport of the instructor (me!) and also among students.
