Complex material, heavy workload, little interaction and connection with students was the challenge I was facing with my students. My empathy map and research show me that there were a number of reasons why and that it was creating some issues that were just going to be compounded as the semester progressed. I needed to identify ways to generate more interactivity and connection without adding to their workload, while also acknowledging many of my students are sitting on buses on the way to work or home when they listen to materials.
