With assessment, students often struggle with myotome testing. Myotomes are specific sets of muscles that are supplied by specific nerve roots.  If there is weakness in a specific type of movement it might give a better idea of where there might be a problem in the body.  This is new information that needs to be applied by the student. They do have previous knowledge of movement directions and basic anatomy that they can draw upon. One analogy that seems to help is dance. It is familiar and allows students to make connections to the content. I have included an example that I have used with students in the assessment course.

The video is short in duration. It is fun and allows the students to play and interact as they learn. Previous knowledge can be drawn upon and I believe students are more inclined to practice.
