Empathy Map for Asynchronous Learners
I created this empathy map to identify concerns that my Communication Essentials students had about their online asynchronous learning environment. I taught this course in the fall 2020, and I will be teaching it again in the upcoming fall semester of 2021, so I really wanted to empathize with my previous students so that I can try to design the upcoming course in a more engaging and fun way. In order to do this, I reflected back on feedback my students had given me during our time together. Much of the feedback was positive, but I did have some of the students mentioning that they felt disconnected in the asynchronous learning environment, so my empathy map addresses those concerns.
