I mainly teach international students. Over the last eight years, I developed student-teacher and personal relationships. Having ongoing side and in-class talks enabled me to summarize and address some of my students’ essential objectives.

  • To attract employers
  • To meet the immigration requirement by working at a supervisory level.

Attracting employers from newcomers is a genuine concern that requires training in job searching, learning about the industry’s requirements in the Canadian marketplace, and preparing necessary documents. We coordinate with students and career advisors who provide workshops about job interviews and resume writing.

As for the second objective, we invite employers and former students to meet with international students to discuss potential success factors. We realized that communication skills and the willingness to learn were the most important to develop among international students.

Such workshops and meetings helped address the students’ objectives, motivating them to engage further with the course activities.
