Holy CRAAP!
I used the CRAAP model to evaluate a French textbook on the ECampusOntario open library. This textbook was published in 2019. Although French grammar doesn’t change rapidly, it is important for a textbook to contextualize the grammatical constructs within current and relevant topics. The author shows a lot of experience and knowledge about the subject matter in the way the topics are laid out and in the explanation of grammatical concepts. The explanations are accurate and easy to follow. This textbook would be a great secondary resource for students and a great complement to the resources we are using in our French grammar course. My hesitation of using it as a primary source stems mainly from the fact that commercially available textbooks nowadays come with a lot of interactive online exercises, and the one I’m using even comes with a movie! It would be too costly to develop something similar as an OER object.
