These questions are for an Urban Sustainability course I teach. A good way to break the ice on the first day, find out about other areas of the city where we live, and leads into discussion of course topics.

What is distinctive about your neighbourhood? What are some advantages or disadvantages of living there? What amenities are within walking distance? How reliant are you on transportation to get what you need, and to travel to where you need to go? Consider access to nature, infrastructure, and cultural factors that contribute to livability.
