Empathizing with our learners is the work of any educator. I reviewed our course evaluations, received feedback from students, as well as sought feedback from my colleagues. An empathy map was created and which highlighted a few learner challenges. An overarching theme amongst students seems to be being able to connect the dots. This is not surprising as there is a lot to know to become a health care worker: the content is heavy! When multiple faculty within the same course answer questions, they invariably are saying the same thing, but learners have difficulty seeing the forest for the trees for what appear to be different answers. My hope is that ChatGPT will bridge the gap. As per the previous submission, ChatGPT can spit out a case scenario for the students to sort out scenarios health care workers read up on in clinics. It is based on this information that we proceed with the care of our patients.

Attached is an example of a case scenario that could be created on ChatGPT. Note: this is created based on the student’s integration of (a little bit of) knowledge of various didactic courses, including radiation biology, physics, imaging in radiation therapy, patient care, and methodology to name a few, as well as review of their previous notes, and some research. The students will be presented with a demographic information for the patient and based on their treatment planning scans, arrive at the appropriate case scenario which will cover a number of facets of the patient journey, as aforementioned.

This is super exciting and an amazing way to utilize Artificial Intelligence! Please find the link to a very realistic case scenario created on ChatGPT!
