My metaphor is of the Vikings.  The program in which I teach is a brand-new engineering program (Building Systems Engineering) for CC ITAL, we are starting year three of delivery.

So the metaphor of a Viking ship fits quite perfectly on many levels.  The first and most obvious is the linkage between BSE students & instructors and of the Viking cultural we both embrace exploration of thought and experience through the five senses.  We both are of a most curious nature that seek the truth, Vikings have their gods to guide them while engineers, we our laws of science.

From an instructor’s perspective we are Vikings as well as my team is still exploring how best to deliver the program.  We have our scope, but the journey has yet to be mapped.  These times are both exciting and yet nervous challenging times as we explore our physical world thru science and testing our mettle against the braking strain of the profession.
