My learner challenge was to engage my hands-on students to the new online learning platforms, which they do not like to use. I’m hoping that by choosing the Mentimeter software, I can capture their attention throughout the learning process so they become more interactive in the class and feel free to share their ideas and knowledge without judgment.

I like how this tool is anonymous, so students can make their voice heard, without being the centre of attention. I have heard many instructors speak of Menti and have been able to participate in the polls, so I knew it was easy to use and available to everyone (as long as they have internet access).

The Mentimeter website offers a free basic program and has many tips and tricks available for new users. They allow you to test it out for yourself and offer specific suggestions for educators. It’s very easy to use, and when I approached family and friends to test it out, they loved it! It sparked conversation between them when they viewed the answers.

I plan on using this at least once in every class because it is great for quick feedback, fun lessons and formative assessment. A great tool to use as an icebreaker on the first day of class.
