A frequently misunderstood concept in medical imaging is interpreting and understanding the plane of 3D anatomy, being presented in 2D images.  So to try and overcome this hurdle in my classes, I have incorporated 3D modeling software with the ability to rotate and manipulate the anatomy seen, so that it can be correlated with imaging.  Hopefully using this software and the additional visualization it provides will help the student grasp the plane and relational anatomy (anterior/posterior/lateral, etc) being demonstrated.
