Module 1: Like Driving a Car
For the fifth activity in Module 1, we have to think of something about our discipline that is “like driving a car”. This is something that also represents a foundational skill that allows for further expansion within that discipline.
As an Instructional Designer who works a lot with graphics, I feel that navigating and using Adobe Photoshop is like driving a car.
I’ve always been interested in graphic design. Since I was a teenager, I’ve been using Photoshop for various home and work projects. As I’ve worked through the various versions and updates of Photoshop, the general user interface hasn’t changed that much over the years. Therefore, I’ve been able to start learning basic skills like editing, cropping, inserting text, changing colours, etc. and then moving up to more complex skills like working with clipping masks, gradients, perspective, manual adjustments, patterning, shadowing and more….
