My Personal Learning Network
My personal learning network is being cultivated via Twitter, but I’m starting to use LinkedIn as well. LinkedIn is definitely for my professional self, whereas I use Twitter as my personal social media. I follow anything and everything that is of interest to me, whether it’s related to my work or not. I’m more comfortable on Twitter, but I generally just follow people or corporate/institutional accounts and then end up down a rabbit hole based on what they are posting. I’m looking forward to using Twitter more intentionally and checking out some new to me hashtags from the Higher Education Twitter Directory (e.g. #CdnPSE, #IOLchat) and the Education Chat Google calendar (e.g. #EDthink, #cdnedcht)!
This picture that I found on Unplash captures how I feel about my personal learning network. Although I may not ever meet many of the individuals that I follow on Twitter, or even interact with them directly, we are “connected” by a shared passion (whether that’s related to higher ed, ed tech, agriculture, zoology, marine biology, the outdoors, etc…).
