The notion of formalizing your PLN and creating a visual to track who and what is part of it is a valuable exercise. It’s sort of like taking the old fashioned address book  or rolodex and updating it with all the tech tools we have at our disposal to connect with others. Taking a good look at my PLN for one particular area of interest I realized that I should broaden my contacts to engage with more people with a similar interest. I did a search for my area of interest and found a few worthy sites to follow and engage with.  Most of the sites I found however were very commercial which led me to realize how important it is to dig a bit deeper before clicking “follow”.  Using social media sites for PLN can also prove to be a big time waster so another reason to be selective on who or what sites to engage with.
